Highest level of ZDHC certification for Codyeco

We are proud to announce that we have received the ZDHC Level 3 certification – the highest level of ZDHC certification – proving that our products meet all requirements connected to Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC). A significant step for our company in taking a catalyzing role to drive sustainability in the leather chemical industry in Italy.

ZDHC Level 3 for all production sites

Codyeco ensures the highest quality in development, production and service around all of our products and solutions. It is a great accomplishment that we are recognized for good chemical management during production and manufacturing. ZDHC Level 3 certification has been received for all Codyeco branded products produced in the three production sites. This makes us the company with the largest portfolio with this certification in Italy. To receive the certification is a great reward for efforts on our path towards a socially and environmentally sustainable leather value chain by 2025, together with our parent company Smit & Zoon.

The three production sites of Codyeco:

  • Santa Croce sull’Arno – Beamhouse & Wet-End
  • Castelfranco di Sotto – Finishing
  • Montorso Vicentino – Pigments and Stuccos

About ZDHC

The ZDHC Roadmap to Zero Programme is a coalition of fashion brands, value chain affiliates and associates. ZDHC is an organisation initiated in 2011 by 6 fashion brands aiming for a more sustainable operation. Currently, ZDHC has grown to 30 signatory brands, 102 value chain affiliates (including suppliers of chemicals) and 18 associates. Smit & Zoon has been a contributor since early 2018.

The Manufacturing Restricted Substances List (MRSL) used in the Chem-MAP certification sets restrictions to the chemicals that can be used in the production process of leather articles. This is a much wider scope than a regular Restricted Substances List, which only defines restrictions for the finished article.
